Why Use Hypnotherapy for Stress?

Hypnotherapy for stress relief
Hypnotherapy for stress relief helps you to regain control of your life and feel more calm, confident, and in control.

Many people experience stress in lots of different ways. For some, it’s a feeling of being completely overwhelmed, trapped in a whirlwind of negative, often desperate thoughts from which it can feel like there’s no escape.

For others, it’s a physical sensation like someone pushing down on the chest or a tightness in the jaw, a feeling that everything in your life has quite literally gotten on top of you.

For others still, it’s a combination of these mental, physical, and emotional stress symptoms.

Either way, there’s one thing everyone dealing with too much stress has in common:

That stress feels completely awful, often leaving you feeling unable to cope and possibly even ready to explode!

Still, there’s an even bigger problem than the way that stress affects you in the here and now – it can also produce all kinds of physical, mental, and emotional symptoms, many of which can seem to stay with you for far too long.

For example, stress can cause:

  • Migraine headaches
  • Sore neck, jaw, and shoulders
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Rashes and other skin irritations
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Anger
  • Depression
  • A general feeling of being out of control.

Hypnotherapy helps by using a solution-focused approach to break that cyclone of negative thinking, feel calmer, and develop the confidence to tackle the challenges in your life with a new found sense of ease.

What Happens in a Stress Management Hypnosis Session?

In each session, we’ll talk about the progress you’ve been making before learning what’s going on in your brain when you feel stressed.

When you have a good understanding of why you respond to things in the way you do and how it affects you, you’re better equipped to deal with those things more effectively in future.

Speaking of the future, we’ll also use visualization exercises to see your stress-free self as you’d ideally like to be and even think about the small, manageable steps you might want to take to get you there.

At the end of each session, I’ll gently and safely guide you into trance and use clinical hypnosis to reinforce everything we’ve done together.

All in all, our sessions will set out to achieve three things:

  1. Help you reduce your stress levels in the short term so that you can leave each session feeling calm and relaxed
  2. Develop new, more effective strategies for coping with the challenges you face
  3. Learn how to manage your own stress now and in the future, so that you can keep calm and carry on long after we’ve finished working together.

How Long Does Hypnotherapy for Stress Management Take to Work?

The great thing about solution-focused hypnotherapy is that we work quite quickly and you may start to see positive results soon after we’ve started working together.

However, the actual number of sessions included in your treatment plan will all depend on your individual circumstances and we’ll talk about this during your initial consultation.

Can You Do Hypnosis for Stress Relief Online?

Yes, of course. Online hypnotherapy is just as effective as face-to-face hypnotherapy, so if you can’t make it into the practice, I’d be happy to connect with you on Zoom.

Due to COVID-19, all of my sessions take place online until further notice.
